Day 1, Dec 7 Evening departure from USA gateway for overnight flight to European transit airport, followed by daytime direct flight to Nairobi, Kenya.
Day 2, Dec 8 Arrive early evening in Nairobi where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your comfortable and secure hotel with bed and full breakfast (Fairview or Boulevard Hotel, Nairobi)
Day 3, Dec 9 Morning departure for Maasai Mara via the Great Rift Valley with spectacular scenery, arriving at Mara Fig Tree Tented Lodge for lunch and relaxation. Late afternoon game drive on this northern expanse of the Serengeti plains where you will easily see zebra, all sorts of gazelles, lions, giraffes, elephants, buffalo, hippos, and numerous rare birds and other varied wildlife. Sumptuous safari dinner and overnight at Mara Fig Tree.
Day 4, Dec 10 Early morning Balloon safari followed by champagne breakfast out on the plains. This day features two additional game drives, before and after lunch at the lodge, for your photo safari and viewing pleasure to cover all the habitats and variety of the Mara. Meals and overnight at Mara Fig Tree.
Day 5, Dec 11 Morning departure for Lake Nakuru National Park via Narok town, viewing more of Africa's Great Rift Valley and arriving at Flamingo Hill Tented Lodge for lunch. An afternoon game drive will include rhinos, baboons, monkeys, and the famous flamingoes of Lake Nakuru along with more of Africa's storied wildlife. Dinner and overnight at the Flamingo Hill Tented Camp.
Day 6, Dec 12 Pre-breakfast game drive to catch the fascinating dawn activity around the lake, then leisurely morning with lunch in Naivasha, home to the famous colonial "White Mischief" and now horticulture capital of East Africa. On to Nairobi for early afternoon shopping and late afternoon flight to Kampala, Uganda where you will be met at the airport and taken to dinner and then overnight at the Visitors Guest House.
Day 7, Dec 13 Morning departure for Western Uganda passing through the lush countryside and colorful villages and markets to arrive at the Bwindi Reserve, with meals and overnight at the Kitandara Tented Lodge.
Day 8, Dec 14 All day in the reserve tracking the gorillas guided by an expert on a fascinating and informative adventure. Meals and overnight at Kitandara.
Day 9, Dec 15 Return to Kampala, the royal capital of the Baganda kingdom and tour the beautiful hill-top landmarks around town of the royal palace, the royal tombs, the Anglican and Catholic Cathedrals and National Mosque, Africa's Ba'hai Temple and other historic sites and markets. Overnight at the Visitors Guest House.
Day 10, Dec 16 Depart for Kisumu, Kenya on Lake Victoria, the largest of Africa's great lakes. You will be met by a local guide and journey to a rural village community and stay at an historic mission station. Meet your hosts and children at a local AIDS orphanage. Meals and overnight will be hosted there.
Day 11, Dec 17 Day of volunteer activities with the children and community members to build your humanitarian connection and a reciprocal exchange for the cultural richness and hospitality you will experience over these two extraordinary weeks. Local meals and overnight at the orphanage or in Kisumu town.
Day 12, Dec 18 Morning flight to Nairobi with time for lunch and shopping in this bustling African capital. Afternoon departure for the Serena Mountain Tree Lodge on the scenic slopes of Mt. Kenya. At this beautiful lodge you will have stunning views of the wild animals at the adjacent flood-lit natural salt licks from your verandah or balcony. Available nature walk into the forest with dinner and overnight at the Serena Mountain Lodge. Day 13, Dec 19 Relaxing morning in the extensive gardens and nature walks with lunch at the lodge. Scenic afternoon drive through the Central Highlands of Kenya where you will see the fertile coffee, tea, and pineapple plantations. Farewell dinner in Nairobi and evening departure for overnight flight to European transit airport.
Day 14, Dec 20 Onward flight to USA for afternoon arrival at USA gateway city
If you have an extra day or two, there is the option of a European layover visit on your way to or from your spectacular Africa Comprehensive Tour with Wonders of Africa Safaris. Alternatively, add three days to your Africa visit to include the historic and culturally-rich East Africa Coast on the gorgeous beaches of the Indian Ocean at Lamu Island, Malindi, and Mombasa!
